02 May Juma Khutbah 19 April 2019
All thanks and praise is due to Allah, we seek His help and forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah from the evil within ourselves and the consequences of our evil actions. Whoever Allah guides will never be led astray, and whoever Allah leads astray will never find guidance. I bear witness there is no God but Allah, alone without any partners, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger.
Ramadan is a month of mercy and forgiveness, and it is a month where many are saved from the hellfire. The month of ramadan is for the worship of Allah, Who from the believers doesn’t know about the greatness of this month and its value. This is the leader of the other months, and the best.
Allah aza wajal says:
The month of Ramadhan [is that] in which was revealed the Qur’an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion. So whoever sights [the new moon of] the month, let him fast it; and whoever is ill or on a journey – then an equal number of other days. Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship and [wants] for you to complete the period and to glorify Allah for that [to] which He has guided you; and perhaps you will be grateful.
Anyone who fasts in this month, and stands for prayer will get forgiveness for all his previous sins.
Within this month is a night better than a thousand months.
Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “He who observes fasting during the month of Ramadan with Faith while seeking its reward from Allah, will have his past sins forgiven.”
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
And in another the Prophet said: “Whoever spends the nights of Ramadan in prayer (Qiyam) out of faith and in the hope of reward, he will be forgiven his previous sins, and whoever spends the night of Lailat Al-Qadr in prayer out of faith and in the hope of reward, he will be forgiven his previous sins.” ‘
Ramadan is a great gift and mercy from Allah subhana hua ta’ala.
It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
“When the first night of Ramadan comes, the shayateen and mischievous jinns are chained up, and the gates of the Fire are closed, and none of its gates are opened. The gates of Paradise are opened and none of its gates are closed. And a caller cried out: ‘O seeker of good, proceed, O seeker of evil, stop.’ And Allah has necks (people) whom He frees (from the Fire), and that happens every day.”
Oh beloved Believers Ramadan is approaching and how many of our loved ones have passed and how many people will pass and not reach the blessed month, and how many of our nearest of kin have we buried. Many of the people who are in the graves are criminals and sinners so they are in darkness and punishment so take advantage of this month and repent. And Allah loves and forgives those who repent. And Allah will grant them generously.
Indeed Ramadan is the best of months. So prepare for it, respect it, and give it its rights.
Beware of violating its sanctity, and discrediting its honour, and diminishing its status.
Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “If one does not abstain from lies and false conduct, Allah has no need that he should abstain from his food and his drink.”
Second part of the khutbah.
Ramadhan is a month for disciplining our souls and learning to control our desires. Allah has made it obligatory upon us and itis to achieve the fear of Allah and righteousness.
Allah All mighty says: O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous.
Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “Allah said, ‘All the deeds of Adam’s sons (people) are for them, except fasting which is for Me, and I will give the reward for it.’ Fasting is a shield or protection from the fire and from committing sins. If one of you is fasting, he should avoid sexual relation with his wife and quarrelling, and if somebody should fight or quarrel with him, he should say, ‘I am fasting.’ By Him in Whose Hands my soul is’ The unpleasant smell coming out from the mouth of a fasting person is better in the sight of Allah than the smell of musk. There are two pleasures for the fasting person, one at the time of breaking his fast, and the other at the time when he will meet his Lord; then he will be pleased because of his fasting.”
Oh slaves of Allah prepare to welcome this month of Ramadhan, Let us fast and gain forgiveness and jannah from this month.
So fear Allah, oh slaves of Allah, and cleanse your intentions, and be truthful to Allah, Encourage yourselves, your relatives and friends to worship Allah and help each other with enjoyning good in this blessed month.
I ask Allah to grant us this Ramadan and to gain its full reward and accept our actions. And peace and blessings be upon the best of mankind.
So fear Allah as He should be feared and The best words are the words of Allah, and the best guidance is the guidance of Muhammad. Beware of newly-invented matters, for every newly-invented matter is an innovation (Bid’ah) and every innovation is a going-stray. And every going astray is in the hellfire, and upon you is the jama’a for whoever leaves the jama’a is in the fire.
Allah sends His Salat on the Prophet and also His angels too (ask Allah to bless and forgive him). O you who believe! Send your Salat on him, and greet him with the Islamic way of greeting.
May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon the messenger of Allah, and may Allah be pleased with the rightly guided khulafah, Abubakr, Umar, Uthman and Ali and all the companions, and those who followed them in righteousness until the day of Judgment.
Oh slaves of Allah, Indeed, Allah orders justice and good conduct and giving to relatives and forbids immorality and bad conduct and oppression. He admonishes you that perhaps you will be reminded.
And fulfill the covenant of Allah when you have taken it, [O believers], and do not break oaths after their confirmation while you have made Allah, over you, a witness. Indeed, Allah knows what you do.
